About this ETF heatmap
heat.sala.company/etfs is a free heatmap of the most traded US stock ETFs, grouped so you can see at a glance which parts of the market are moving: the US market as a whole, its sectors, industries and themes, and markets abroad. Each tile combines the price move with technical indicators and suggested stop-losses.
Which ETFs does the heatmap show?
112 US-listed stock ETFs in four groups: the US stock market (28: the S&P 500, Nasdaq-100 and Dow, mid and small caps, growth and value, factor and dividend funds), the 11 S&P 500 sectors, 39 industries and themes (from semiconductors, software and AI to biotech, banks, miners, defence, homebuilders and clean energy) and 34 international funds (the world, developed and emerging markets, Europe, Asia and single countries from Japan to Brazil and Saudi Arabia).
How were they chosen?
By how much money trades in them each day (the 3-month average), keeping one fund per index: SPY stands for the S&P 500, so VOO, IVV and SPYM, which hold the same stocks, are left out. Funds trading under $5 million a day are dropped. Bond, cash, leveraged and inverse funds are not included; gold, silver and crypto funds are on the metals and crypto pages.
Where do the prices come from, and how often are they updated?
From Yahoo Finance's public data, every 10 minutes during US market hours (9:30 to 16:00 New York time, weekdays), so a price here is up to about 10 to 20 minutes old; the day's official close follows within the hour. Nothing here is real-time.
What do the colours and the tile numbers mean?
Each tile is coloured by the fund's price move over the last trading day, week (5 trading days) or month (21), as chosen at the top. Blue shades are gains and red shades are losses. Open a tile for its chart, RSI, trend, relative strength against the S&P 500 (SPY), volume and suggested stops.
Is this financial advice?
No. It is an experimental, work-in-progress tool. Prices can be late, wrong or missing.
Prices refresh every 10 minutes during US market hours (weekdays, 9:30–16:00 New York time). Nothing here is real-time. Recommended stop-losses are suggested levels only: this page cannot exit a position for you, so set stops with your broker. Not financial advice.
