About this forex heatmap
heat.sala.company/forex is a free forex heatmap of 48 currencies against the US dollar, including the euro (EUR/USD), yen (USD/JPY), pound (GBP/USD), Swiss franc, yuan and Indian rupee, the Russian ruble, the Saudi riyal, the UAE dirham and the Egyptian pound. It combines each currency's move with technical indicators and suggested stop-losses in one view, and a daily scorecard checks how its signals actually did.
Which currencies does the forex heatmap show?
48 currencies against the US dollar: the 29 that the European Central Bank publishes, including the euro, yen, pound, Swiss franc, yuan and rupee, plus the Russian ruble, the Gulf and other Arab currencies, the Iranian rial and the Syrian pound. Currencies pegged to the dollar are hidden unless you tick Pegged.
Where do the exchange rates come from, and how often are they updated?
Official ECB euro reference rates, set once per business day around 14:15 Frankfurt time and published about 16:00. Currencies the ECB doesn't cover come from the public-domain exchange-api feed and are marked with a question mark. Rates are not real-time.
How are the pairs quoted?
Every pair is shown dollar first by default (USD/EUR, USD/GBP, USD/JPY), so all tiles read the same way: a blue tile means the dollar gained against that currency. The …/USD switch flips every pair to currency first (EUR/USD, GBP/USD, JPY/USD), where blue means that currency gained. Note that brokers quote the euro, pound, Australian and New Zealand dollars currency first (EUR/USD), and most other currencies dollar first (USD/JPY).
What do the rocket and sad-face emoji mean?
They describe current conditions, not predictions: a rocket marks a strong 50/200-day uptrend and a sad face a strong downtrend. X and O show the point & figure trend, and fire and ice show strong or weak one-month momentum. A daily scorecard checks whether these calls predicted the next moves, so treat them as hints, not advice.
Is this financial advice?
No. It is an experimental, work-in-progress tool. Rates can be late, wrong or missing, and for the Iranian rial and Syrian pound the official and market rates differ a lot.
Rates are checked every 10 minutes but change once per business day: the ECB sets them around 14:15 Frankfurt time. They are reference rates, not live market prices. Recommended stop-losses are suggested levels only: this page is not real-time and cannot exit a position for you, so set stops with your broker. Not financial advice.
